Elevating Teaching, Empowering Student Growth
A constructive, growth-centered evaluation framework designed to support educator excellence and student success.
At The CTM Academy, we believe exceptional learning experiences begin with highly supported, continuously growing educators. Our teacher evaluation process is far more than an annual review—it is a collaborative, ongoing partnership designed to celebrate teaching expertise, refine instructional practices, and cultivate an environment where every student can thrive.
Our Evaluation Philosophy
"Our goal is to evaluate performance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional learning, and mutual respect."
Our evaluation approach is rooted in the belief that every teacher brings unique strengths, dedication, and passion to the classroom. Designed to be transparent and supportive, our process aligns directly with The CTM Academy’s core mission and instructional expectations.
Key Principles of Our Process:
- Support for Professional Growth: Providing teachers with tailored feedback, actionable insights, and dedicated resources to continuously hone their craft.
- Constructive Collaboration: Encouraging open dialogue between educators and administrators through frequent observations and post-observation reflections.
- Recognition of Impact: Celebrating the expertise, hard work, and measurable positive impact our teachers have on student achievement every day.
Core Evaluation Domains
The Pivot framework evaluates instructional quality across four foundational domains, alongside specific observable classroom indicators:
Domain 1: Planning and Preparation
Designing rigorous, standards-based instruction tailored to diverse student needs.- Academic Context: Ensuring learning goals are relevant, age-appropriate, and connected to broader curricular standards.
- Instructional Strategies: Planning diverse, research-backed methods that accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Domain 2: Classroom Environment
Creating a safe, organized, inclusive, and engaging physical and emotional space for learning.- Classroom Walls & Environment: Utilizing wall space purposefully with functional learning aids, student work, and anchor charts that support independence.
- Important Postings: Maintaining clear visual displays of schedules, learning objectives, expectations, and safety guidelines.
Domain 3: Instruction
Delivering active, high-impact teaching that drives deep student understanding.- Engagement: Facilitating active, mind-on learning where every student is meaningfully participating.
- Level of Teaching and Learning: Maintaining high academic expectations while scaffolding support to foster critical thinking.
- Level of Application: Challenging students to apply new knowledge and skills to real-world contexts and problem-solving scenarios.
Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities
Demonstrating ethical leadership, continuous self-reflection, and active participation in the school community.- Collaborative Growth: Engaging in peer learning, administrative feedback loops, and professional development opportunities.
- Family & Community Engagement: Maintaining proactive communication with families to support student growth.
How the Cycle Works
Our evaluation cycle is structured around continuous collaboration and open feedback loops throughout the academic year:
1. Goal Setting & Planning:
At the start of the school year, teachers collaborate with school leaders to establish personal growth goals aligned with Pivot domains and student learning objectives.2. Regular Observations & Walkthroughs:
Administrators conduct both formal observations and brief, informal classroom walkthroughs to observe real-time instruction, student engagement, and classroom dynamics.3. Constructive Feedback & Reflection:
Following observations, teachers receive timely, detailed feedback through the Pivot platform, followed by collaborative debriefing sessions to discuss wins and areas for development.4. Resource Allocation & Continuous Growth:
Based on evaluation insights, teachers are connected with targeted coaching, professional development opportunities, and instructional resources to support their ongoing journey.
Investing in Our Educators
